DNP Scholarly Project
At the DNP level, the project is a practice-change or quality improvement initiative with an implementation plan. The key requirements are a PICOT-D question, evidence synthesis, an implementation framework (Iowa, JH-EBP), a QI methodology (PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma), and outcome evaluation.
Our nursing capstone specialist, Sara Christina (MSc Clinical, Research RN, BSc Nursing Science), leads this service with clinical research experience across evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and nursing education. This page is part of our wider Capstone Projects service.
We provide full project support from PICOT-D through the implementation plan, evidence tables, outcome evaluation, and final write-up. We search CINAHL, PubMed, and Cochrane for the highest-quality evidence, appraise it using CASP or JBI checklists, and organize it into evidence tables with levels of evidence ratings.
If you have not yet formulated your question, our published PICOT question guide with 15 clinical examples is the foundation for this stage.

A BSN capstone is typically a shorter evidence-based practice project or community health assessment demonstrating foundational EBP competency. A DNP scholarly project is a comprehensive practice-change initiative with a PICOT-D question, formal evidence synthesis, an implementation framework, a QI methodology, and outcome evaluation. The depth, length, and committee expectations are significantly different.
We use the framework your program requires. Common frameworks include the Iowa Model (2017), Johns Hopkins PET Model, ACE Star Model (Stevens, 2004), Stetler Model, and PARIHS. For QI capstones, we use PDSA cycles, Lean, or Six Sigma as appropriate. If your program specifies a different framework, send us the guidelines and we will follow them.
This depends on your program and whether your project involves primary data collection from human subjects. Quality improvement projects that do not involve research with human subjects often do not require full IRB approval but may need an IRB determination letter. We help you navigate this with your program's guidelines.
DNP scholarly project support can take 4 to 10 weeks depending on the scope. Express timelines are available for approaching deadlines.
