Ethics & Academic Integrity

Ethics and Academic Integrity

ScribeLabWriter provides professional research-support and research writing and evidence synthesis services. We operate transparently within the ethical boundaries of academic publishing and educational standards, and we expect our clients to do the same.

This page explains our ethical framework, how we position our services relative to authorship standards, and what we expect from clients who use our services.

Our Role in Your Work

We provide methodological, analytical, and writing support. The nature of our contribution depends on the service:

For systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and scoping reviews: We function as methodological collaborators. We develop protocols, execute searches, conduct screening, perform data extraction and risk of bias assessment, run statistical analyses, and write manuscripts. Our role is comparable to that of a research assistant, methodologist, or statistician on a research team. See our Systematic Review service.

For dissertations, theses, and capstone projects: We provide writing and analytical support for specific chapters or the full project. We help students develop methodology, analyze data, structure arguments, and produce drafts that meet their program's standards. The student retains full intellectual ownership and is responsible for understanding and defending the work.

For essays and academic assignments: We provide writing support that helps students produce work they learn from. We expect students to engage with the material, provide their own clinical scenarios and reflections, and use our support as a learning tool rather than a replacement for their own effort.

Authorship Standards

For research projects intended for journal publication, we follow the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations on authorship. The ICMJE defines authorship based on four criteria:

You retain first authorship and full accountability. If our contribution meets the ICMJE criteria for authorship (which depends on the scope of the project), we discuss co-authorship or acknowledgment with you. If our contribution does not meet the authorship threshold, we are acknowledged in the manuscript's acknowledgment section as methodological or statistical support.

We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines on contributor roles and disclosure.

What We Expect From Clients

Transparency with your supervisor or committee. We recommend that all clients inform their supervisor or program about the use of professional support services. Our work is designed to be disclosed, not hidden.

Engagement with the content. For dissertations and capstone projects, we expect you to review every section, provide feedback, understand the methodology, and be prepared to defend the work in front of your committee. We produce the support; you own the knowledge.

Honest representation. Do not submit our work as entirely your own without any disclosure. Our services are support services, and they should be represented as such.

Compliance with your institution's policies. Academic integrity policies vary by institution. It is your responsibility to ensure that using professional support services is permitted under your program's guidelines. If you are unsure, consult your supervisor or your institution's academic integrity office before engaging our services.

Confidentiality

Every project is confidential by default. We do not disclose client identities, research topics, project details, or deliverables to any third party. Client names and project information are never used in marketing, testimonials, or case studies without explicit written consent.

A mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) is available on request at no additional cost. The NDA can be signed before any project materials are shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is using a writing support service ethical?

Professional writing and methodological support is widely used in academic research and publishing. Research teams routinely include statisticians, medical writers, and methodological consultants who contribute to publications. The key ethical requirement is disclosure. Our services are designed to be acknowledged, and we operate within ICMJE and COPE guidelines.

Will my university know I used your service?

We do not report to universities or academic institutions. Client information is confidential. However, we recommend that you disclose the use of support services to your supervisor, as this is consistent with academic integrity best practices and protects you from any potential concerns.

Do you guarantee original, human-written work?

All work is original and written by a human specialist for your specific project. We do not recycle content between clients. Work can be submitted through Turnitin or any plagiarism detection tool. We do not guarantee a specific similarity score, as similarity percentages can be affected by correctly cited sources, reference lists, and common academic phrases.

Can I use your service for an exam or timed assessment?

No. We do not provide support for exams, timed assessments, or any assignment that is completed under supervised conditions. Our services are for take-home assignments, research projects, dissertations, and publications only.
